Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
LOCAL - Over 350 students and staff from West End schools General Wolfe, Isaac Brock and Gordon Bell will help fill hundreds of bags full of garbage and recyclables from walkways, boulevards and parks and sweep dozens of west end sidewalks. They actively contribute to improving the look of their community and learn “what goes down, someone has to pick up“! The annual “Sweep Off” makes a significant impact on West End neighbourhoods as they are relieved of a winter’s worth of accumulated debris. Outfitted in white T-shirts, the students will be hard to miss and will be on the streets from 10 am until 3pm. These are students from General Wolfe junior high and hit the streets at Maryland and Sargent. The students in this photo are l-r Sarah Ybid, 14, Leatitia Ladera, 15, and Raven Manalastas, 14. In back wearing baseball cap is grade 9 teacher Shawn Reimer. BORIS MINKEVICH/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS APRIL 23, 2015
