STUDENT FOOD BANKS – Food banks on university campuses have become as common as book stores and cafeterias. So for some students, back to school means back to living below the poverty line, while juggling the costs of tuition, books, rent and other living  expenses. According to data from Winnipeg Harvest, the number of post-secondary students using food banks in Winnipeg is rising every year. Between 2010 and 2014, Harvest donated more than 600,000 lbs. (about 313 tons) of food to post-secondary schools to  provide to students. Between 2013 and 2014, the amount of food being donated jumped considerably -- Red River College’s amount almost doubled.
