Tom Lussier, former principal of St. Paul’s, now on sabbatical, will be Gonzaga Middle School's principal and executive director. He's posing inside the St Andrew's Parish gym and school, where the new school is being prepared to open next September. A small group of prominent businessmen – led by Mark and Steve Chipman – will be establishing a private, independent Jesuit school in Point Douglas next fall. Modelled after similar schools in inner city urban areas across the states to provide top-level education programs to those who can least afford them. Called Gonzaga Middle School, it will start with a Grade 6 class of 20 kids, then eventually cover Grade 6-8. Graduates will be eligible to attend St. Mary’s and St. Paul’s, which has committed to accept those who passed requirements, for free. See story.
