Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
Early this morning, a section of the shoring along Sherbrook Street at the site of the new Women's Hospital gave way and partially collapsed, causing some damage to Sherbrook Street. The damage caused by this event was limited to a small section of property and there were no injuries. As a result, the two west lanes on Sherbrook Street, between Elgin Avenue and William Avenue have been closed. Construction officials, engineers and developers are on site assessing the situation and initiating remedial work. As part of this process they will be in touch with the City of Winnipeg to determine whether the remaining two lanes of traffic need to be closed as the repair work gets underway. Here is a photo of the mess. March 21, 2012 BORIS MINKEVICH / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
