On July 18th, Chief Pequis was one of the five Saulteaux and Cree chiefs who signed a critical treaty with Lord Selkirk to provide land for settlement purposes.  As a young man he led a band of his tribe westward to the Red River, where they established themselves at Netley Creek MB. The scroll depicts the importance of this treaty and all treaties signed in Manitoba and Canada.    May 11, , 2016
