MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) and Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) marked World Refugee Day with a special refugee ration meal lunch at Sam's Place on Henderson Hwy. The simple meal is symbolic of what people in refugee camps might eat and their goal is to raise awareness about the 65 million displaced people around the world, more than half of whom are children. For most, each day is a struggle with many uncertainties. Ahmad Alkhatab and his newly-arrived Syrian family spoke during the event expressing his gratitude towards the efforts that are being made to accommodate refugees. 160620 - Monday, June 20, 2016
