Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
ZACHARY PRONG / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS While some businesses still operate along edges of Winnipeg’s Canadian Pacific Railway yards, much of the area is the scene of abandonded and decaying buildings. The yards and surrounding area, seen by many to be an industrial blight despite its many architectural gems, have long been the subject of debate in the city. The non-profit Social Planning Council of Winnipeg has been calling for some years for the yards to be removed. They wish for them to replaced with new housing, green space, recreational facilities and other urban infrastructure lacking in the Winnipeg’s inner city. August 14, 2016.
