Photo description:
RUTH BONNEVILLE / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Thomas Duck (plaid shirt) and Jimmy Clipping of Tadoule are two of the original men who took a dog sled team back into the bush to reclaim their semi-nomadic way of life. To save their people from extinction they blazed a trail to Tadoule Lake to find a new home for their people living in Churchill area. Today, 60 years later, they walk and chat together on the reserve after Minister Carolyn Bennett made a formal apology on behalf of the Government of Canada in Tadoule Lake for a forced relocation of Dene people 60 years ago. See Alex Paul story. Aug 16 / 2016
