BORIS MINKEVICH / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Photo of the mother-and-daughter team of (from left) Anita and Pina Romolo, are co-owners of Piccola Cucina, an eight-year-old Winnipeg firm which manufacturers Italian gourmet products made from almonds. They just signed a deal with a B.C.-based food distributor (Canadian Choice Wholesalers) who will be distributing their products to about 100 new stores in Western Canada. The deal is expected to enable them to double and maybe even triple their sales in 2017. (Their products include Italian macaroons, almond flour, and pie and tart shells made with almond floor).
