JOHN WOODS / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
Mexican architect Fermin Espinosa adds a bucket to his international art exhibit One Bucket At A Time on the Esplanade Riel in Winnipeg Monday, September 11, 2017. Espinosa's architecture firm Factor Eficiencia has partnered with 5468796 Architecture and Studio NYL Structural Engineers to bring his public installation that weaves together thousands of common 5-gallon painters’ buckets to form two giant waves to Winnipeg. Visitors to the installation are invited to “fill the wave” of buckets through individual donations of $20. Arriving in Canada empty, each bucket used to construct the project will leave for Mexico filled with Canadian generosity, with all proceeds to be given to Ayuda y Solidaridad con las Niñas de la Calle, a Mexican orphanage for at-risk girls and young women located in Mexico City. Donations can be made through www.5468796.ca.
