Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
A mover enjoys a smile with T. Rex as it took its final walk down Main Street. And with this last stroll, Dinosaurs Unearthed's Winnipeg run will officially end. While there were rumours that T.Rex was simply tired of the never-ending cold weather, the real reason for its departure is a new contractual engagement with the Exploration Place in Wichita, Kansas. Since opening on October 6, 2012, Dinosaurs Unearthed has seen more than 80,000 visitors pass through its doors, the highest-attended paid temporary exhibition in the Museum's 42-year history. This number also includes a record Spring Break week, where the Museum attendance doubled over the previous year. Dinosaurs Unearthed officially closed its doors on April 21 after a two-week extension. Dinosaurs Unearthed has also been selected as a finalist for a Tourism Winnipeg's Award of Distinction for the marketing impact of the exhibition in our city.
