Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
About 45 people took part in the Wicked Winnipeg walking tour today, a joint tourism effort put on by Muddy Water Tours and hosted in part by the Downtown Biz which highlights early crimes and scandals of the alcohol trade in Winnipeg. Tour guided Kristen Verin-Treusch donned a costume reminiscent of the swindlers of whom she spoke, and took her audience through the streets of Winnipeg from the Via Rail Station downtown to the Vaughan St. Gaol. Verin-Treusch holds two degrees and a masters in Canadian history, and specializes in unorthodox methods of sharing the city's darkest pieces of history with participants. Saturday, July 6, 2013.
