Photo description:
A boy checks out the jaws on a mounted walleye, also known as pickerel, at the Winnipeg Fish Festival at The Forks. Despite their best efforts, participants didn't catch any fish today - because their lines never made it into the water, which has overflowed the banks of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. There were still plenty of opportunities to practice casting, learn to identify Manitoba's most common freshwater species and win prizes. Saturday, July 13, 2013.
