WINKLER- Harvey Friesen came from a Mennonite family , but did not consider himself very religious at the time , volunteered to go to WW2 looking for adventure ,at age 16 when he returned was he was against the idea of apologizing in front of the congregation for his military service and chose to be married in his wifes non Mennonite church - Mennonite Veteran Harvey Friesen for Randy Turner story on Mennonite Vets who chose to serve their country. Others were shunned by their church when they returned from WW2. Winkler vet Harvey Friesen with Bible and service medals . He was too young to fight and the war ended before he was 18 , so he never left CanadaHe is believed to be the last living member from that group. Remembrance Day Feature by randy turner .
