Remembering the Sacrifice - for STDUP / gallery / slide show  tribute - Some of the many Winnipeg memorials to Canada's Wars -  Remembrance Day Tribute - in  pic  , The   WW1 memorial is located  outside the Bank of Montreal at Portage and Main  - KEN GIGLIOTTI /  WINNIPEG FREE PRESS /  Nov. 24 2011 - Wpg War Memorials kgwarmemorial finds all for slide show -  The memorial was unveiled Dec 5 1923 , it portrays  in bronze  a WW1 soldier and commemorates the 231 Bank Of Montreal  employees from across Canada that died in WW1. The scuptor was James Earle Farmer and the  bronze was modelled after Captain Wynn Bagnall  a BMO staff member and  member of the  58th Field Artillery.The uniform is in error because the American sculptor did not have an example of a Canadian uniform to model the bronze after so an American uniform with boot style  and a slightly different cut. The design was a highly acclaimed  design  in its time.
