MIKE DEAL / FREE PRESS Various woven items including Pasiking, or backpack (right), from the Cordillera region of Luzon, northern Philippines. In day-to-day living, pasiking are used to store belongings and implements for long travels, and at times to carry food when farmers are working in the rice fields. It is usually made out of bamboo, rattan, nito and other local fibers. The drawer contains woven trays, c. 1980s, made from rattan and bamboo. The Lupa ay Buhay | Land is Life, exhibition showcasing Filipino culture through its rich craft traditions. The exhibit will be on display August 28, 2024 at the Shirley Richardson Craft Gallery on 329 Cumberland Avenue. 240717 - Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
