WAYNE GLOWACKI / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS   The Forks, StorefrontMB and La Maison des artistes launched the fourth annual Cool Gardens exhibition Friday. One of the new installations chosen by an international competition is " Big Red" by Saskatchewan based OPEN Design Collaborative and Winnipeg's Mark Bauche just east of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Seated in the foreground at right is Brad Pickard, an architect with the Saskatchewan based OPEN Design Collaborative and beside him is Winnipeg landscape architect Mark Bauche. The giant "X" made of over 1000 red sandbags marks the natural and cultural intersection of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. Nine garden installations will be on display from June 24 to Sept 18 at various locations in Manitoba including The Forks, St Boniface, Waterfront Drive and the Riverbank Discovery Centre in Brandon,Mb.   see release June 24  2016
