Feature Project on Food for Thought, 24hourproject

Photo of Mea Ramm (wheelchair) tends to the gardens Friday morning.

Description:
Millennium gardens – Douglas Avenue just off Henderson
/Nurturing: community garden for seniors.

Senior citizen gardeners work gardening in the community plot, which was relocated there in 2010 after it needed to move from its original location at 1571 Henderson Hwy to make way for the Chief Peguis Trail construction. It was originally established to help seniors become more active but those who plant and tend the gardens donate produce every year to Winnipeg Harvest.
