The altercation between the two resulted in Chan being seriously injured and later succumbing to his injuries. Dennis Lloyd Jr. Penner, a 24-year-old male who is a close neighbour of Chan's is charged with manslaughter and is detained in police custody. Police info below: On May 11, 2019, at approximately 12:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a rear lane near Burrows Avenue and Albina Way for a report of an assault. They located a suspect and an injured unresponsive maile. The injured male identified as Calvin Chan, a 66-year-old male of Winnipeg. ended up succumbing to his injuries. Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the deceased victim, along with a neighbour, had been attempting to back a boat into a garage when the suspect attempted to drive the rear lane and an argument ensued. The victim was subsequently assaulted and sustained a serious injury. Dennis Lloyd Jr. Penner, a 24-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with Manslaughter and is detained in custody.
