Local - Holy story: Jack and Jeannette Foote

Portrait of Jack and Jeannette Foot just outside their front door holding vase of palms for Holy Week. Photo for a feature running Saturday on how this couple and many other people of Christian faith will not be able to attend their Easter Sunday service at the church this year due to Coronavirus pandemic.

For 62 years, Jack and Jeannette Foot have been married, and for 60, they’ve been going to church at the St. Joseph the Worker parish in Transcona. For the first time in their long marriage, they won’t be there Sunday. But they’ll get to watch the St. Boniface Diocese livestream, where their daughter Lindsy will be playing the organ.

It’s a very different holiday for the 84- and 82-year-old, but they’ll make due, even if Jeannette, who normally sings in the choir, will have to sing a solo.
