WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Piles of gravel cover the site of the construction of a second main runway at Winnipeg International Airport. Construction of the new runway, designed for aircraft of the future, will be located at the northwest section of the airport. Work is expected to be completed by the end of June if contractors get good weather. A 16-inch gravel base is being put on top of the present runway. Two separate three-inch-thick layers of black-top will be put on top of that. May 11, 1963
