Press release info: Manitoba RCMP investigation of Portage la Prairie homicide continues in Winnipeg On June 24, 2020, at approximately 9:30 pm, Manitoba RCMP responded to a report of found human remains near Baker Street, in Portage la Prairie. Investigators with Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services attended the scene and worked with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine that it was a homicide. Major Crime Services investigators have now identified a location of interest on Alfred Avenue in Winnipeg that may be linked to this homicide. The residence of interest was reported to be on fire on June 20, 2020, and was subsequently demolished for safety reasons. A short briefing by RCMP Officer J.R. Courchaine was given at the scene.
