Sunnday Special - Harman's Cafe at 570 Sargent Ave

Photos traditional Ethiopian flatbread called Iniera, made fresh daily.

Also see photos of .Desta Worku Negatu preparing some Ethiopian favourites in the kitchen, shots of finished dishes in the restaurant (currently only open for pickup and takeout), exterior shots etc., for story.

Description:
This is for a two-page Sunday Special on Harman's Cafe, an Ethiopian favourite in Winnipeg's West End. Owner, Desta Worku Negatu, has quite the story; she grew up in Ethiopia, escaped her homeland in '83 during the war at the age of 16 - 14 of 20 companions perished during the escape - and lived in Djibouti for three years, training to become a nurse.
She moved to Canada in the late 90s to continue her studies but after popping into Harman's Cafe, a Portage Ave. lunch counter, one day for breakfast, she was hired to work there as a server, eventually taking over as manager.
She opened a spot of her own in '09, dubbing it Harman's Cafe as a nod to her start in the biz.
