Local - Back to school/Remote Learning

Photo of Grade 3, Noah Asselin, 8, who attends Harold Hatcher Elementary School, enjoying some back yard fun on his trampoline in the fresh snow Friday.

After much debate, Leanna Asselin sent her Grade 3 son, Noah, 8, to school at Harold Hatcher Elementary School in RETSD in September. But with rising COVID numbers and an option for remote learning, they tested out the distance learning set-up earlier this month, for two weeks. This week, she put him back into school -- where she says he learns best. Half of his class is currently doing remote, so she says there's lots of room to distance at school. Doing remote learning until the spring break is too long of a time away from class, she says.

Story on remote learning families who have opted into remote learning to commit and stay with it until at least spring break.
