Local - Homeschooling family

Photos of Kenny Kennedy with his mom, Dawnis Kennedy reading a children's book in Ojibwe on their front steps in the West End.

49.8 VIRUS THREE FAMILIES: We are following three families — a homeschooling family, remote learning family and in-class instruction family — this year to document their learning curves during the pandemic. Third edition to be published Saturday.

The Parenteaus and Kennedys set out to organize a cousin homeschool bubble in autumn, which soon fell apart because of COVID anxieties and later, public health directives. Now, Dawnis says she doesn't know what it will take to feel comfortable reuniting with the Parenteaus. She misses her cousins - and Kenny misses his cousin/classmate/friend in Carter, but the pandemic has already caused them so much pain.
