RUTH BONNEVILLE / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS NTERSECTION - SRS signs Photos of Shane Storie, owner SRS Signs, in his sign business with a huge array of local antiquated signs, billboards, mascots & plaques that he has collected over the years and has dispersed throughout his shops and works spaces. What - This is for an Intersection piece on Shane, not only the owner of one of the city's busiest sign companies (responsible for the tourist attraction Winnipeg sign @ the Forks, also tons of others around town) but also a collector of advertising memorabilia, some of it 100 years old. The walls of Shane's office & warehouse at 1520 Notre Dame are a veritable museum - go from room to room and you'll spot wooden signs, tin signs, etc. touting such bygone gems as Kelekis, the Winnipeg Roller Rink and Gasthaus Gutenberger. Also tons of McDonald's memorabilia, they were one of his first corporate clients (inside the front door is a life-size Ronald McDonald on a bench, lots of room for Shane to nestle in beside him) Dave Sanderson story.
