Photo description:
MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Ken Taylor's family-owned biz, around since the early '70s when it started as Ken's Kar Klinic (for his dad Ken Sr) - they added videos to the mix in 1983, closed the service station part of things three years later and though video rentals are no longer the lifeblood of the biz, you can still pick and choose from 1,000s of titles... Ken saw sales of his VHS tapes go up, up, up in the early days last spring when people in the neighbourhood, many of whom don't have cable or Netflix, were running out of things to watch, so popped in to buy 10 tapes for 10 bucks - Ken figures if he can survive Blockbuster, he can survive COVID.
