Gimli  Icelandic Festival 

Performers wear heavy armour including  medieval Chain Mail, wool undershirts and metal helmets in the heat as they battle each other in staged fight shows in front of onlookers on Harbour Hill in Gimli Saturday afternoon.  

An historical Viking encampment with a wide range of viking displays including, wood carvings, weaving and cooking techniques were on display in Viking village populated by dozens of reenactors who depict typical scenes from Viking culture throughout the centuries on Harbour Hill Saturday. 

The event is put on by Icelandic Festival of Manitoba and organized by members of The Vikings-Vinland.

James Melbourne (right, long beard), suito name is Badger, wears 30 - 40 pounds of fighting gear as does staged fights in front of the crowds Saturday.
