JESSICA LEE/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Christy Bird, a masters of development practice student at the University of Winnipeg, has her vaccination status verified by James Currie, the interim president and vice chancellor of the university on September 1, 2021. After consultations with staff and students, the university decided to mandate vaccination against COVID-19 as a requirement of attending campus this fall. Instead of having staff and students scan their proof of vaccination QR codes at the entrance, by adding green stickers to the backs of student identification cards, staff and students can flash their cards to security upon entry, making access to the university more efficient.
