April Roller, with her son, Kyan Roller-Blacklaw, 6, a Grade 1 student at Weston School on the playground at Weston School. She is also the sole member of the elementary school's PAC.
Following years of field shutdowns (during which students could only play on the tarmac because of concerns about lead on the school grounds), soil remediation efforts have wrapped up and the field at Weston School is finally open again. "I’m super glad that it’s finally addressed - that it finally has been done. It took longer than it should have, but the kids are definitely a lot happier that they can finally go on the field, as of last week," said mother April Roller. "The children in the neighbourhood use it. Parents will go out there and play ball or whatever. You can see kites flying sometimes. People will go and exercise on it."
