Nowosad, an intern for the Arctic Research Foundation, had surgery yesterday to have a parathyroid removed. Her surgery was originally scheduled for April 6 but was cancelled because she tested positive for COVID-19. She says she had no symptoms, apart from fatigue, which is a symptom of her condition. Leading up to April 6, both she and her partner, as well as both immediate families, had been skipping events and/or isolating to keep Maddy COVID-free. She believes she caught it at Chapters while buying books to keep herself busy during the final days of isolation leading up to the surgery. April 21st, 2022
