The Brandon University Status of Women Review Committee sponsored two screenings of the film Polytechnique at the Evans Theatre on Tuesday, to commemorate the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre where 14 young women were murdered in an act of misogyny. Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, Annie Turcotte and Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz were murdered and fourteen others were injured (ten women and four men) in the planned gender-based attack.
