RUTH BONNEVILLE / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS LOCAL STDUP - park blessing Point Douglas City Councillor Vivian Santos together with Leslie Spillett, and local community leaders host a land blessing ceremony for the redevelopment of Giizhigooweyaabikwe Park located in the Centennial neighbourhood, located at 242 Lizzie Street, Leslie Spillett, a well-known advocate for the community is honoured by having the park named after her. “Giizhigooweyaabikwe” or “Painted Sky Woman” is Leslie Spillett’s spirit name in the Anishinaabemowin language.
