Lorna Doolan showing off her incredible rock retaining wall that she built by hand over 30 years along her property on Netley Creek. She says she can practically remember where every last one came from and adds new rocks every year as the ice carries some away. What: This is for an Intersection piece on Lorna's 30-year project, a 380-foot by 35-foot rock wall built along the bank of their property bordering Netley Creek. Lorna & her husband Dave moved there in 1993 - she was concerned erosion caused by high water and ice in the spring would eventually threaten their house, so she started building a protection wall out of rocks and stones, which she gathered one at a time from neighboring farmers' fields (you want 'em, you can have 'em, they told her, happy that she was willing to do their grunt work) Also, photo of a huge boulder waiting to be placed - it was a 60th b-day present - she told friends + family she didn't need anything, but if somebody wanted to bring her a rock, that would make her happy - so somebody trucked in a huge one July 5th, 2023
