Preschoolers at Oak Street Nursery in Winnipeg and children from Grand Rapids finally meet in-person during a community, interchange event Tuesday. Kids learn about each other's cultures through play, drumming, dance, songs and eventually writing letters as pen pals as part of a new initiative called TOYBOX, collaborations and community sharing. More Info: Oak Street Nursery School and Children from Grand Rapids, Manitoba (aged 3-4 years) visit Oak Street nursery school to bring gifts from the bush and do a drumming circle. Oak Street will be reciprocating and they want to get a Pen Pal writing exchange going. Both programs are involved in the TOYBOX project to encourage early learning and wellness opportunities for parents and caregivers. Although the children have not met each other before, the teachers have been collaborating on classroom activities such as sharing pictures of how their centres make bannock.
