The Manitoba Teachers’ Society and Seven Oaks School Division announce new Indigenous resource for schools to highlight National Truth and Reconciliation Week, Sept. 25 - 30, at Canadian Museum for Human Rights Monday. Elder Mary Courchene, residential school survivor, and members of her family, Seven Oaks School Division Superintendent Brian O’Leary, and Manitoba Teachers’ Society President Nathan Martindale, launch Resistance on the Giimooch (Ojibwe for “secret”), a collaboration between SOSD and MTS based on the life of Elder Mary Courchene. These lessons channel her story of truth, resistance, and healing to reclaim identity, language, culture and community for herself and her family. Sept 25th, 2023
