Optometrists (From left): Dr. Andrew Styba, Dr. Carmen Recksiedler, Manitoba Association of Optometrists, 4th year optometrist intern Shehnaaz Brar, and Dr. Irene Mestito-Dao, Manitoba Association of Optometrists at the Gizhe Waa Tii-Si-Win Expo taking place at Siloam Mission Tuesday morning.
The Manitoba Association of Optometrists (MAO) is working with End Homelessness Winnipeg, Siloam mission and other partners in the Expo to provide much needed optometric and eye care to those experiencing or at risk of houselessness.
The Gizhe Waa Tii-Si-Win Expo is a volunteer-driven, community-based initiative. At the Expo, service providers come together across sectors, on one day and in one place, to deliver essential, dignity-enhancing services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, for free. The event’s name means “working with love, kindness and generosity for others” in Anishinaabemowin.
