Earth movers have started work on an extensive construction development in Brandon's southeast corner along First Street, under the Southeast Brandon Secondary Plan that was adopted in 2021. The first phase of the plan incorporates nearly 18 acres of land with a mix of residential uses, including fourplexes, duplexes and townhouse units. The subdivision will also create an eastern extension of Maryland Avenue that, according to a project outline in 2023 by VBJ Developments, will connect to private roads in two locations.
