Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
Idil Timayere and her six kids* (daughter Samiira (4) on her lap, then clockwise from left her sons, Salman, Zakeriya, Soyan, Harrun and Ahmed (kneeling)) at their North End hot house – the woman fled Somalia, was burned out of a refugee camp in Kenya, fled to South Africa where the business she and her husband started was burned out by resentful locals. He was badly beaten and fled. She and their six kids came to Canada where she claimed refugee status. Days after being run down by a cab in Wpg and breaking several bones, a judge heard her case and has just ruled she’s not a legitimate refugee. Appealing the decision will cost her $1,400 just to get the ball rolling – exactly what they get to live on in a month. For Sanders Saddest Back to School Story Ever.
