Winnipeg Free Press Archives Winnipeg Old City Hall (7) July 16, 1957 Maybe B. J. "Jim" Morrissett hasn't heard about the dangers of the city hall tower. For Mere Mr. Morrissett, - and a steeplejack for Fort Rouge Decorating and Sandblasting, doesn't seem to be worried as he scales to the top of the flagpole, 50 feet above the controversial tower. Last week the flagpole rope snapped in a high wind and the flag draped over one of the faces of the tower clock. Jim was called in at 8 a.m.. Tuesday to pass a new rope through the pulley at the top of the pole. This is the third time he has been up in the last, several years and he says that "it's getting a little shakier each time." fparchive
