Winnipeg Free Press Store
Harry Lee, who grew up in South Korea, immigrated to Canada in 1969. He thanked the war veterans gathered for a candle light service at Brookside Cemetery on Saturday, July 27, 2013, which marks the 60th anniversary of the Korean War ceasefire. "Thank God you were there to save me," he said. "I owe my life. They're really my heroes." The service also recognized the designation of 2013 as The Year of the Korea War Veteran by the Canadian government. Five hundred and sixteen Canadians gave their lives in the Korean War, which lasted three years and ended on July 27, 1953. (MARY AGNES WELCH) (JESSICA BURTNICK/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS)
