Historic Winnipeg Free Press from May 25 1939 , the first daily newspaper to use a colour picture in North America was done by the WFP using a three colour plus black process , this was a spot news event that was used in the paper wuthin 18 hours of it being photographed , the picture was of a downtown parade featuring the King of England .The original newsprinted page is owned by Wpg'er Helmut Sass and allowed the WFP to copy it.
