Dr. Tejel Patel, a volunteer Podiatrist with a Siloam Mission guest Thursday after the official opening of the new podiatry room in the Saul Sair Health Centre part of the Siloam Mission. Podiatry and foot care services are essential to those experiencing homelessness, many cope with diabetes, circulation issues, or other conditions which stress foot health. The new podiatry room provides a professional, modern, and well-equipped clinical setting for these critical services. Several devoted podiatrists and foot nurses volunteer their time and expertise to Siloam Mission clients every week. The Canadian Footwear and the Foot Health Centre have been providing quality footwear and custom orthotics for patient referrals. The facility has been established thanks to the efforts of Dr. Tejel Patel and her husband, Anis Khan, generous donations from Fortress Real Developments, MADY Development Corp., the Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute’s Youth in Philanthropy Committee, with help from dedicated volunteer, Chantel Blunderfield.
