The statue in Vimy Ridge Park to honour Canadian hero Andrew Mynarski, VC, born in Winnipeg in 1916 and died in Cambrai, France in 1944. The monument reads "With his parachute and clothes on fire, Winnipeg P/O Andrew Mynarski made the ultimate sacrifice in trying to save tail gunner Pat Brophy in his crippled Lancaster bomber.
