SMALL FILE - Former Winnipeg Rifles general manager and president Gord Cooke, a founding board member for the Prairie Football Conference junior football team, will be the subject of the roast at the team’s annual fundraising dinner on April 26 at the Canad Inns Polo Park. Cooke, who also has served as the Canadian Junior Football League’s commissioner, recently retired as the Rifles’ GM. He has been a longtime volunteer with Football Manitoba and the St. Vital Mustangs community football organization. It is the 10th annual "roast" which has included previous victims such as Lyle Bauer, Chris Walby, Gord Steeves, Bob Sokalski, Wade Miller, and last year’s prey, David Black, who have all taken good-natured shots to help raise money for the team.
