King Brown holds back tears as he describes the harrowing experience of how he and his roommate David DeGagne ran from out of their home at 126 Bruce Ave. with only the clothes on their back into one of the coldest nights so far this winter to escape from a fire that broke out early Saturday morning. Later, while Fire crews were trying to put out the fire and locate third tenant thought to be in the basement, tow firefighters got trapped in the basement due to a flashover and needed to be rescued. They are recovering in hospital with burn injuries. See Alex Paul story for further details. February 13, 2016 Ruth Bonneville / Winnipeg Free Press
