Lanterns painted with messages of peace marked the anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city of Hiroshima which instantly claimed the lives of 70,000 people. It has been estimated as half of the total fatalities with at least another 70,000 people dying as a result of radiation, burns and cancer. (Bruce Bumstead/Brandon Sun)
