Senator Murray Sinclair, former chair of Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission launched Orange Shirt Day Every Child Matters that will take place on Sept. 30th to honour residential school survivors and respect for all children. The Senator’s address took place during a full day of Indigenous Awareness Training for staff and executive at The Manitoba Teachers’ Society Friday. ¤Orange Shirt Day is in its fourth year nationally to promote awareness of residential school history and its core message is that “Every Child Matters”. Schools and other organizations are starting to recognize the day with school assemblies and other events.
