BORIS MINKEVICH / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Jets Mark Scheifele, right, and Josh Morrissey, left, at R.F. Morrison School, Seven Oaks School Division, this afternoon. Mark Scheifele follows up to the shocking reaction the crowd when a child asked if he had been to the Olympics. Mark Scheifele said "No, but my girlfriend has.." The kid responded "You have a girlfriend??!!". All the kids said "Ooooooooooo!" The Winnipeg Jets, in conjunction with "I Love to Read Month", are once again proud to present Reading Takes Flight presented by Esdale Printing, a program that positively encourages children to develop an interest in reading. Jets players will be visiting 12 different schools throughout the city today to celebrate the annual February event. During these school visits, players read the official Winnipeg Jets childrens storybook The Home Team to classes of students from grades K to 6. Classes were chosen based on an entrants list of Top 5 reasons why a Jets player should read to their class. In addition to the visit, each winning school received an autographed replica jersey from the visiting player as well as an autographed book for each student and each classroom involved. Winnipeg Jets players had a short autograph session at the end of the event too. (info from press release). Feb. 8, 2017
