In pictures , Fran Gomez arriving at 6am - she is running the restaurant , cooking turkeys starting at 6am for the lunch lunch crowd at the 305 Hargrave St diner . Wagon Wheel Restaurant closes Friday . It has been a Winnipeg diner since 1958 famous for its Clubhouse Sandwich , the original owner s husband and wife team Marina and husband Louis Mathez , both have passed away . The diner is now run by Fran Gomez , she has worked there for the past 28 years. Urban renewal of the area has forced the closing of the Wpg dining institution recognized by the Wpg Free Press and Readers Digest for it's unique sandwich .
